FRCR Part 2B: A Comprehensive Guide to the Exam

The Royal College of Radiologists in the UK grants doctors who pass the FRCR exams the renowned postgraduate degree known as FRCR. International radiologists who want to work in the UK after graduation must earn the FRCR qualification in order to register with the General Medical Council. For radiologists looking to work in the UK as consultants or specialists, this is the ideal path.

Candidates must successfully complete three tests in the following order in order to receive the qualification:

FRCR Section 1
FRCR Section 2A
FRCR Section 2B

The FRCR Part 2B test, which is the last need to obtain the FRCR title, will be covered in depth here.

FRCR Part 2B: A comprehensive synopsis

The clinical component of the FRCR tests is the Part 2B exam. It is divided into three parts: an oral test, a rapid reporting session, and a reporting session. It assesses a candidate’s capacity for imaging interpretation, precise diagnosis, and effective communication in accordance with the Speciality Training Curriculum.

Rapid Reporting and Reporting Sessions are written components that are completed in a single day, while the oral examination (Viva) often takes place three to seven days later.

Rapid reporting session: Candidates must report 30 cases in 35 minutes for this section.
Long cases (Reporting session): Candidates get seventy-five minutes to interpret six instances.
Oral examination: This test evaluates clinical thinking, decision-making, and communication abilities over the FRCR courses of two 30-minute sessions.
