CA Sanjay Agarwal’s journey as a Chartered Accountant is deeply rooted in his commitment to the profession and the community. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to supporting fellow Chartered Accountants through leadership roles within ICAI, dedicated professional services from his firm Agarwal Sanjay and Associates, and as the co-founder of Voice of CA — a platform built to uplift and connect CAs across the country.
CA Sanjay’s Path to Leadership
Sanjay’s journey within ICAI began with his election to the regional council of northern region in 2004 where he became the chairman of the council in the very first year.
His early experience as a Northern India Regional Council Member of ICAI (2004-2007) laid the foundation for his dedication, where he served as Chairman, Executive Member, and Treasurer, showcasing his longstanding commitment to the CA community.
Thereafter, he was elected to Central Council of ICAI from the north in 2010, and he has been honoured to serve through re-elections in 2013, 2016, and 2022. He always says being an elected representative is all about your responsibility towards your profession and is a way to give back to your community which brought you to this stature.
Throughout his tenure, he has chaired several key committees, including Direct Tax, Public Relations, International Taxation, Committee for Members in Entrepreneurship and Public Service, Committee for Aggregation of CA Firms and so many more.
He represented the institute as Deputy Convenor of the Legal Directorate (2022-23) and led various initiatives in Research, Taxation Audits Quality Review Board, Corporate Laws, and Direct Taxes committees for the upliftment of CA members.
In 2018-19, he played a pivotal role in the Committee on Economic, Commercial Laws & Economic Advisory, and as Vice-Chairman, he oversaw committees on Direct Taxes, Public Finance, Cooperatives, and the NPO sector.
He has led more initiatives in 2023 – 24 wherein he steered his Committee for Members in Entrepreneurship & Public Service towards the goal of encouraging more and more CA members to move towards entrepreneurship and civil services. Moreover, his Committee for Aggregation of CA Firms made strides in the last 2 years to bring in a workable LLP Aggregation Model for CA Firms and many other initiatives.
Voice of CA: Empowering the CA Community
In 2009, Sanjay co-founded Voice of CA (VOCA) with the vision of creating a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and fellowship among Chartered Accountants using the power of Internet. This started with only a few thousand members and now it has grown to have more than 75000 members.
As a registered NGO, Voice of CA conducts regular seminars, webinars to keep members connected and create new networking opportunities. VOCA shares professional updates through Newsletters, WhatsApp groups, Telegram, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
VOCA members shares job vacancies through its VOCA Vacancy FB Group and Weekly Newsletter. VOCA also shares free e-books and discounted professional books for updating its members. They also do health camps, yoga camps, meditation classes to promote holistic living amongst the CA members and their families.
This active dissemination of information & regular programs keeps CAs informed, connected, and empowered.
VOCA’s mission is to tirelessly work for the betterment of the CA fraternity, providing a support system that members can rely on for guidance, knowledge, and opportunities. Sanjay’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding VOCA’s initiatives, ensuring it serves as a valuable resource for professionals nationwide.
Building a Legacy of Service
Sanjay’s story is one of personal resilience, deeply influenced by his mother’s unwavering support. Growing up, Sanjay often asked his mother what career he should pursue, and she always encouraged him, saying, “CA ki bahut izzat hoti hai…Sanju tu CA kar le”. Her words guided him on his path, and today, her legacy continues through him and his brothers, each of them excelling in their own fields.
Her teachings continue to inspire him, reminding him to value every moment with loved ones and keep giving back to his community.
