Space exploration is an idea that seems straightforward on paper, but when you start to think of potential challenges, you realize how complex and incredible human curiosity really is. Spacecrafts use state-of-the-art tools and equipment to navigate their way around space and even study other places that humans have yet to physically reach.

It’s no question that space exploration involves quite of bit of planning, which is ultimately driven by various mathematical calculations and projections. With so many known and unknown variables to account for, the complexity of these calculations is apparent. With this in mind, scientists rely on quantum algorithm design and powerful computers to gather necessary info and plan accordingly.

Human beings can only communicate with each other when they’re within line of sight of each other. That’s an issue when one is on the surface of a planet that’s thousands of miles away from another person. That’s where communication satellites come into play. Communication satellites are manmade satellites that circle the Earth, and they’re the only way that people on Earth can communicate with each other when they’re not within line of sight. It also means humans can communicate with astronauts in space as they fly around other planets and moons, taking pictures of new worlds, studying them, and more.

5. Navigation Satellites

If humans want to explore space, they need a way to navigate and then push on to another planet or moon. A GPS is what a human would use in an emergency, but there’s also a need for navigational satellites. Navigation satellites are artificial objects, usually in the form of satellites, that are used to help send location data. They send out signals that other GPS systems can track and use to guide their way around the planet or moon.

6. A Power Source

All of this technology, spaceships, computers, and more rely on a power source. A power source is something that provides an energy source. Humans do that through radioactivity. Power sources provide people and the things they use to explore space with every single form of energy they need, from magic power and thermal power all the way to solar energy. There are several different thermal power sources, including fossil fuels like coal and natural gas, as well as nuclear power plants. Solar power is one of the most popular forms of energy humans use because it’s renewable and clean and provides humans with a non-radioactive power source.
